Albums

Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.

Before Toto was formed, members of the band performed sessions for other musicians. David Paich, the son of session drummer Marty Paich, and Jeff Porcaro (the brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro and drummer Jeff Porcaro) all played on Boz Scaggsalbum from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 following the collaboration.

The third album of Toto, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous efforts and was criticized for its lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group The band held auditions for a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old demos and tapes to release a special album called Toto XX. The album was well-received by fans and the band went on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
